Having become a probationary member of the Fédération Protestante de France on the 29th November 2003, the CéPéE became a full member on the 10th March 2006.
A certain number of evangelical churches (mainly from the brethren movement) wish to demonstrate that they belong to the larger protestant family and to share a closer fellowship one with another.
These communities are characterised, amongst other things, by:
The adhesion to an evangelical declaration of faith that underlines the normative authority of the Holy Scriptures.
The practice of baptism upon confession of faith.
The recognition of ministries and the collegial exercise of authority in the local church.
The welcoming, recognition and practice of spiritual gifts for edification and witness, with a desire to conform to scriptural teaching, in humility and faith.
A desire to seek and cultivate a spirit of brotherly openness with respect to other Christian families.
The churches wishing to unite in this fellowship have no intention to break contacts with other groups or families of churches with which they have brotherly and even institutional links. They wish to live in mutual respect and serve in a spirit of complementarity within diversity.
With the aim of deeper fellowship, as well as working to exchange and deepen theological understanding of certain specific themes, the spiritual leaders of these communities feel the need to meet together from time to time.
