The French Assemblies of God, of which the first associations were founded in 1932, began from a movement of spiritual revival within the protestant evangelical churches. Currently several hundred legally declared associations exist in all of mainland France as well as its overseas territories and other French-speaking countries.

With their doctrine and practices based entirely on the Bible, they are united by their spiritual principles, by fellowship and by a common action in the exercise of public worship. Their cohesion is maintained by regional biennial pastoral meetings in the north and south, annual national pastoral meetings and by the pastors who lead and represent them.
